You may not know it, but being a nanny and working for a family is exactly the same as working for a business or a company.
Nannies are not Self Employed as per the Inland Revenue Guidelines and Criteria.
You will become an employee of the family that you will be providing your services to and, as such, you have a legal right to a contract of employment outlining the terms and conditions of your employment. You also have the right to receive regular payslips, detailing your gross remuneration and all deductions made by the employer on your behalf.
Ensure that you receive your contract as soon as you start working.

A contract will be your greatest protection if your employer fails to meet their responsibilities.
Your employer will pay you your agreed salary (either NET or GROSS) and pay the PAYE tax and National Insurance Contributions due on that salary over to the Inland Revenue.
